Russ Erickson-Head Coach- 15U Red
Russ has been coaching youth sports in Calgary for over 15 years. He grew up playing as many sports as he could in small-town southern Saskatchewan, and that experience underpins his fundamental belief that youth sports are a critical part of growing up into a positive, contributing person. As a coach, Russ loves seeing kids get better - at their skills, at doing a job on the team, and as people. Seeing kids grow a passion for the sport is what keeps him coming back to coaching every year. Baseball has been especially good for kids finding what is often a new passion for them.
Russ has been a head coach with Calwest Little League baseball for the past 6 years including house league, Minors AA all-stars, Majors AA all-stars, and teenage summer ball. In those years, teams he’s coached have won house league and provincial all-stars championships. The best part isn’t winning those titles - it’s in watching the players grow and improve so much over a season that they are able to win at the end of it. Russ has also coached in Springbank Minor Hockey for over 10 years within various age groups in addition to being an age group coordinator.
Russ has several coaching certifications from multiple sports, including NCCP with Baseball Canada. When he’s not coaching kids sports, he’s a senior leader in the Calgary tech sector - often found coaching his team members and colleagues.
